Weekly Breath Prayers: July 2025
Every Sunday, we begin our worship services with a simple breath prayer from Milford First's lay leader to guide us through the week. Below are this month’s breath prayers along with weekly reflections from Deb Johnson. We hope these prayers are meaningful tools for your spiritual life and journey!

I am here Lord- lead me.
There is so much work to be done here on Earth. In our tiny part of the world, we cannot fix everything- but we can be a part of something much bigger than ourselves. Our volunteer team answering the call and going to North Carolina is a perfect example of this. Not only did they perform much needed tasks, they offered hope in the love of our Lord- perhaps a far greater gift to offer for those who are in need.
Lead me, Lord, to where I am needed.
Move my heart, Holy Spirit, to answer the call.
Give me the strength, Father, to see it through when I have doubts.
Here I am Lord- lead me.

We confess our sins with open hearts, merciful God.
Sin is an ugly word- but sometimes our behaviors are ugly too.
If we look deeper, this breath prayer gives us the opportunity to honestly talk with our Creator about our shortcomings. He does not expect perfection, but He does expect honesty. Perhaps being more honest with ourselves and our actions would be a perfect place to start.
While confessing major transgressions is imperative, the more simple day to day choices we make are just as important.

We rejoice in the redemption we find in you, Lord Jesus!
Redemption- the act of being saved from sin through the price our Lord Jesus paid for us. His ultimate sacrifice on our behalf allows us to restore our relationship with our Heavenly Father. That’s definitely worth celebrating.
This joy goes much deeper, in that we need to share that great news with others. It is not just us who have been offered this gift, but all of humanity. It is our responsibility and our obligation to carry this news out in the world to all that we meet.
This breath prayer can help us face life’s many challenges with grace and perhaps even a bit of radiating joy.

With Christ’s heart in me, may I reflect His love and light.
Many of us are parents or grandparents. Is there any greater joy than seeing our children or grandchildren burst into a smile when they see us? It fills our heart with joy. That same radiating light and love is what our Lord expects for us to extend to all we meet- and the best part is:
It costs us nothing!
Use this breath prayer to take the good news we know out into the world each and every day.
