About Us

The First Methodist Congregation in the Northwest Territory

Milford First United Methodist Church is not the historic building inside which we worship, serve, and grow as disciples. It is the people you meet within and outside of these walls that are Milford First UMC. We are a people who share a great love of Christ and one another. Because of that love, a love fully experienced through the love of God, we are a people who look upon all people as sacred, loved by God and loved by us. We are a congregation that welcomes all, loves all, serves all, leading all in the sacred work of peace, justice, and reconciliation in the world, in the name of Christ.

The people who are Milford First United Methodist stand on the shoulders of generations of Christ followers dating back to 1797 and the founding of our congregation, the first Methodist congregation in the Northwest Territory of the young United States of America. We are grateful for all those who came before us, as well as the legacy of discipleship that moves through our church today and into the future.
