Whether you are a beginner or a learned Bible scholar, Disciple Bible Study is for you!

If you make my word your home, you will indeed be my disciples. John 8:31

This 32-34 week small group experience is aimed at "transformation, not just information".  There are 4 levels of Disciple; each level is described below.  Registration is held during the summer months, with classes beginning in late summer / early fall.

Disciple I: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study

  • This 34 week course studies the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem.  It is a fundamental overview of the entire Bible (you will read about 70% of the Bible) and is an excellent foundation for futher study.  (This course is a prerequisite for the other Disciple studies.)

Disciple II: Into the Word - Into the World

  • This Disciple class will study four books of the Bible - Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts - reading them in entirety.  It includes an emphasis on the Spiritual Disciplines necessary to becoming a true disciple, and looks at the Jewish faith as the root of Christianity. (Prerequisite: Disciple I)

Disciple III: Remember Who You Are

  • This Disciple study concentrates on the Old Testament prophets and the letters of Paul.  The prophets and Paul are continually calling their hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a "set apart" people. (Prerequisite: Disciple I)

Disciple IV: Under the Tree of Life

  • This 32 week course concentrates on the writings in the Old Testament: Ruth 1 & 2, Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations and Daniel.  New Testament scriptures include the Gospel of John, 1st, 2nd, 3rd John, James, Jude and Revalation.  The study emphasizes worship and a sense of living toward completion - toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in the Revelation. (Prerequisite: Disciple I)

Disciple Second-Generation Studies: Jesus in the Gospels

  • Jesus in the Gospels concentrates on the portraits of Jesus that emerge from the four Gospels.  This thirty-week study is intended for graduates of DISCIPLE.  It takes critical scholarship seriously and therefore requires of participants skill in comparing and analyzing various Gospel passages, and biblical knowledge that enables them to place particular New Testament passages about Jesus in their Old Testament context.  As a cornerstone provides stability for a structure, so this study fixes participants firmly in the witness of the four Gospels and holds them accountable to the Jesus who emerges from it.  (Prerequisites: Disciple I, II, III & IV)
