Sunday Adult Small Groups

At 9:25 am:

Adult Bible Study: Join us in the parlor for Bible study and lively discussion.  New members are welcome anytime.  Led by Karl Schultz and Dave Metz.

At 11:00 am:

Upper Room SS Class: NEW STUDY!!! “Never Give Up” by Joyce Meyer. Come learn Relentless Determination to Overcome Life’s Challenges. Questions? Call Jeanne Beurket 831-2475. Join us in upper level Room 205.

Please join leaders Ken Holloway & Jeanne Beurket on Sunday mornings.

The class is planned to be an informal gathering to share and discuss the prior week's readings from The Upper Room Daily Devotional.  Of course, any other faith-building topics and discussions are always welcome.  Since we will be loosely organized around a daily devotional, you can join the class at any time without being concerned about catching up on curriculum readings.  You may purchase The Upper Room at the church or read the daily devotionals online at http://www.upperroom.org/Devotional.  All are welcome.

Other Classes:

Wednesday Morning Prayer Group and Bible Study:  Meets every Wednesday @ 10 AM in the Parlor.  We’re currently studying "Never Give Up" by Joyce Meyer.

Son-Rise Bible Study for Men: Meets every Wednesday morning 6:30-7:30 am in Room UL 204.  We are doing an on-going study of "Foundations of Biblical Manhood."    Contact Fred Thomas (253-9333) for more information.

The WAVE.  WAVE=Wednesdays Are Very Extraordinary.  This is a great way to get to know other people in our church and community.  If you have a meeting or your kids are a part of King’s Kids or Cherub Choir, or you just don’t want to cook, then join us for a delicious meal at 6:00 P.M.  Donations appreciated but not mandatory.  Come be a part of the food, fun and fellowship!

2009-2010 Small Group Offerings

Disciple Bible Study

The decision to take these 9 month intensive courses is not to be taken lightly; however, if you should decide to take this step, the experience will surely change your life.  Here are just two of the many testimonials that have been received regarding the experience of taking these classes.

  • "I have learned more than I had in 52 years regarding the contents and meaning of the Bible, and formed lasting relationships with others."
  • "The study of the Bible itself has been intense.  Plus, the interaction and learning with the others in the class has been a treasured experience."

Please indicate your interest in these classes in the Welcome Center.  Specific dates and times for the classes will be based on the interest and needs of the participants.

Disciple I will be offered on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 , facilitated by Mark and Debbie Weatherman.

Disciple IV will be on Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 7:00 facilitated by Mitch McCrate.

Disciple II and III will be offered if there are enough participants.

The Study of John, The Study of Romans, The Psalms ( all 10 week short courses offered by Disciple Bible Study) are in the welcome center for sign ups.  Any or all will be offered depending on interest.

Learn more about the Disciple classes here.

First of all, Pray

We will explore 4 different topics on prayer, seeking to give our individual prayers a new energy and freshness. Join us for all or one of these Tuesday evenings at 7:30: October 13 – Praying the Lord’s Prayer, October 20 – Praying the Psalms, October 27 – Praying for others, and November 3 – Praying Kingdom Prayers. We will not be using a specific book other than the Bible. Sign up will be in the Welcome Center. For more information or questions, please feel free to call Stephanie Judkins at 831-2610 or email momjud81@gmail.com.

The Last Word
Meets on Monday nights from 7:00-8:15 at Panera in Milford. The conversation begins on October 5th through November 9th. We will be discussing the themes of doubt, faith, heaven, hell and the grace of God. Brian McLaren bases the study on The Last Word and the Word after That. It is based on the New Kind of Christian trilogy. You can read the third book on its own but we recommend that you read the preceding two books first (A New Kind of Christian and The Story We Find Ourselves In). Scott Miller and Dave Metz are facilitating this conversation. For more information, e-mail Scott at rscottmiller1@aol.com.

Son-Rise, Bible Study For Men
Join us on Wednesday mornings 6:30-7:30 a.m. in Room UL 203, starting Sept. 30. For those needing a jolt of sugar and caffeine to jump-start their day, or just wanting some pre-study fellowship, coffee and doughnuts will be available at 6 a.m. We will view a webcast of Patrick Morley, from Man in the Mirror, talking about the week’s scripture, then discuss in small groups. Sign up in the Welcome Center. And bring a friend! Anyone can join at any time. For more information, contact Fred Thomas (253-9333, fredthomas65@gmail.com).

Ladies Bible Study
On Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 a group of ladies meet at the Ohnmeis’ home to study I & II Corinthians. We “anchor and launch,” meaning that we are anchored in the books of I & II Corinthians, but we allow these letters to launch us into other topics. We don’t use a separate study guide – we let scripture substantiate scripture. In other words, if we want to understand something in the Bible, we look to see where else it’s explained – in the Bible. If you’re interested please call Angie Ohnmeis at 831-8877 for directions, etc.

YOGA
Thursdays at 6:00 starting Sept. 17, Raylene Gerber (a Yoga Alliance Teacher in Training) will offer yoga classes for all fitness levels at MUMC. The focus will be on basic yoga postures with an emphasis on proper alignment, body awareness and linking breathing with movement. Participants will learn simple meditations and relaxation techniques to calm the mind and release tension in their bodies. “On my mat, I find stillness, peace, and spiritual connections."

Cro-Knitting
The Cro-knitting group will meet on the first Monday of each Month. They will not meet in September so you may join them on Monday, October 5th at 7:30. For more info see Jennie Thomas.
